A friend invited me to move to his home in Gypsum and loaned me the initial funding I needed to get my own studio off the ground. Artists and collectors come together to see live painting and glass blowing through the weekend which culminates in a ski day at Vail together.īefore I had my studio, I was sleeping at other glass studios around the country, and on friend’s couches. This year will be our second time hosting a summer show, but typically the event is hosted in February for the last five years. I work with a team to create content and popup shows around the country as well as a big annual event at my studio called the Vail Cup Collectors Club. I have created a marketplace for these artists and others to sell handmade drinkware and accessories with an emphasis on everything supporting artists and makers directly. My company acts as a brokerage or gallery for artists who primarily make glass pipes. Artists are frequently visiting my studio from around the state and all over the country to collaborate and take advantage of the incredible surroundings offered in the Vail Valley. My facility hosts artists and provides tools, materials and equipment for a wide variety of mediums from painting to glass blowing. I run a private glass blowing and multi media studio in Minturn which serves as HQ for my company Drinking Vessels. It’s all a process.Ĭan you give our readers an introduction to your business? At the end of my career I hope to be creating more art than I do currently without the financial pressure motivating when and what I make. As I am able to bring on more help I can shift my time allocations, but I still want to be involved in every part of my company. Currently I spend a lot of time managing my social media and sales and less of my time creating my art. Eventually, I hope to bring on more of a staff to support me in my endeavor.
Every day I get to live my end goal, by operating my business and creating my art. Sure, things come up that I am tasked with that feel like a burden, but I try to embrace all of them. I spend every doing what I want to do which is the reason I created my own business. “Be Here Now” has been a mantra for me ever since I came across the book by Ram Dass when I was in college. Periodically a raft will stop and 6 or 8 rafters will crowd into the pool. It's only about 6' across and is separated from the river by a line of rocks. He had no problem but he's pretty agile.) The hot springs are at the base of the "staircase." Don't expect something large. (You will need to use your hands in places but I managed it while holding on to my dog's leash. Use the rocks as a sort of irregular staircase to descend to the river. Follow the trail down until you get to the rocks. (If you get to where the path gets narrow you have gone too far.) Turn left there and you will see a second grill below the first. Look for a wide dirt area on your left with a grill. (No shade on this trail so wear a hat, bring water and go early if it's summer.) Follow the road another 5 minutes or so. Walk about 15 minutes and the road makes a right turn. Once at the top of the hill there is a rather wide dirt trail that obviously doubles as a Jeep trail. (Might be impossible if muddy.) There is a sign at the bottom of the trail but it doesn't say Radium Hot Springs. You have to drive the Trough Rd (about 17 miles of good relatively smooth dirt road from Kremmling - any car can make it) to the Radium turnoff, You park in the Mugrage Campground and cross the road and take a steep path up the hill.
